The role involves taking illustration projects from initial concept to final execution, including the creation of characters, environments, and props that align with the company's identity. You will work hands-on to integrate these illustrations into marketing materials and product content while maintaining a high standard of visual quality. Daily tasks include translating creative briefs into polished assets, contributing to style guides, and collaborating with art directors, motion designers, and product teams to ensure visual consistency. This position is well-suited for an experienced creative professional with a strong background in games, entertainment, or agency environments who possesses both technical illustration mastery and a solid understanding of graphic design principles like typography and layout. You should be comfortable managing multiple deliverables, mentoring teammates, and communicating design strategy to stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

We're looking for a Senior Brand Designer (Illustration & Graphic) to create rich, expressive artwork that brings characters, environments, and worlds to life. You'll own illustration from concept to final and help shape the visual quality bar for our team, as well as the vision for what illustration is at Roblox. You'll also work hands-on as a designer, applying your illustration craft to Roblox's identity system and marketing creative. You'll partner with art directors, designers, and product partners, and bring a strong point of view on color, light, and storytelling. You Will: Create high-quality, polished illustrations for licensing, marketing, and product content Translate briefs, references, and creative direction into compelling finished artwork Develop characters, environments, and props with strong shape language, lighting, and atmosphere Maintain visual consistency across large sets of artwork while keeping each piece distinct Apply illustration within the Roblox brand identity system, designing on-brand marketing materials across surfaces with attention to typography, layout, and craft Contribute to brand and illustration style guides and visual standards, helping maintain design consistency Partner with brand designers, product designers, motion designers, and business partners to deliver work that is strategically aligned and visually compelling Present work-in-progress and communicate your thinking clearly to stakeholders Deliver production-ready files on schedule, with clean, organized layers and assets Give and receive constructive feedback, mentor teammates, and help raise the craft of the team Explore new techniques and workflows, including tools that speed up iteration without sacrificing quality You Have: 8+ years of professional illustration and design experience, ideally in games, collectibles, entertainment, publishing, or brand/agency environments A portfolio demonstrating strong fundamentals (anatomy, perspective, composition, color, lighting, and environment) alongside strong graphic and visual design sensibility Mastery of rendering rich, painterly, polished illustration in a digital workflow Experience adapting to and matching an established art style or brand system Working knowledge of typography, layout, and identity design, and the ability to apply them to marketing and brand deliverables Ability to take a brief and run independently, from thumbnail to final Excellent communication skills and comfort presenting work-in-progress and managing stakeholders Ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Experience working with vendors, agencies, or production partners is a plus Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page . Annual Salary Range $146,720 — $184,820 USD Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
