Legal Counsel, Commercial

Checkout.com · London

Checkout.com is a global fintech company that provides payment processing infrastructure for online merchants and digital platforms. The Commercial Legal Counsel role in London will focus on managing the end‑to‑end commercial contract pipeline. Day‑to‑day responsibilities include drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of agreements such as customer contracts, strategic partnership deals and supplier NDAs, as well as advising on the legal and regulatory implications of new product initiatives. The lawyer will also handle contract interpretation issues, conduct multijurisdictional legal research, and support strategic projects with proactive, results‑oriented advice. The position suits a qualified solicitor with three to seven years post‑qualification experience, whether from an in‑house legal team or private practice, who has strong commercial contract skills and can balance competing stakeholder demands. Experience in fintech, payments, e‑commerce or cross‑border matters is advantageous but not mandatory, while the ability to work autonomously, communicate complex issues clearly and thrive in a fast‑moving environment is essential.
